Henry F. Ayer, 91, formerly of Dubuque, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday at Michigan City, Ind., where he resided with his daughter, Mrs. Philip Noesges.

Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity. The Rev. Joseph V. O'Brien, will officiate at the Requiem High Mass. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Dubuque Council 150, Knights of Columbus.

He was born at Utica, N.Y. and resided in Dubuque until 16 years ago.

[Note: Henry came to Allamakee County via orphan train and eventually made his way to a foster family in New Albin, where he and his wife Frances raised their three daughters.]

He was employed in the men's furnishings department at Rosheks and Kraft's for many years. He was married in 1895 at New Albin, Ia., to Frances Callahan, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Evolyn Jansen.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Philip Noesges of Michigan City, Ind. and Sister Mary Colette, B.V.M., of Clarke College, Dubuque; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be recited Sunday at the Mortuary at 4 p.m. by the Clarke Club; at 4:30 p.m. by Dubuque Council 510 of the Knights of Columbus; and at 7 p.m. by members of Nativity Parish.
