HARRY BRUCE BOLLMAN 1880-1954

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral home for Harry B. Bollman, a lifelong resident of Post township, who passed away Sunday at an Iowa City hospital. Rev. Charles E. Witt. pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, officiated at the services.

Harry Bruce Bollman, a lifelong resident of Post township, died after a very brief illness on Sunday, October 10, 1954 in the hospital at Iowa City. He was the younger of nine children born January 26, 1880 to the pioneer family of Virginia Adeline Minert and Henry T. Bollman.

The first public school of the district was held in the granary of the Bollman farm until a school house could be built and it can be assumed that Mr. Bollman was among the first pupils who attended this school. His education was continued in the community schools. Mr. Bollman farmed the land his father had cleared, excepting a short interval when he went to Canada after his mother's death. He never married.

The last 20 years of his life were spent with his brother, Sherman, and his family north of Frankville. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Good Templars Lodge of Frankville.

Mrs. H. B. Winter of Albany, New York is the only surviving sister. The nephews and nieces, with the exception of Mrs. Riley of New York, were all present for the funeral: Lyle Bollman of Frankville, Curtis Bollman of Milwaukee, Ruth Drew of Waukeshaw, Wisconsin, Virginia Gibbs and John Mullaney of Mason City and Evelyn Gat.. [illegible] of Garland, Texas.
