Mardella E. BROOKS, 88, of Bentonville, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Postville, Iowa, to August SCHULTZ and Dorothea SCHULTZ.
She was co-owner of a feed store in Gooding, Idaho, and co-owner of an automobile agency in Wendell, Idaho. She moved to Bentonville in 1977 from Santa Cruz, Calif. She worked as a hostess at the Holiday Inn when it first opened. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bentonville. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the 5-Holers and 9-Holers in Bella Vista, Ark. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, gardening, and playing canasta and bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ira BROOKS, in 1992; five brother; and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, David BROOKS of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Greg BROOKS of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Gertrude KOHL of Faribault, Minn., and Doris ALBERTSON of Boise, Idaho; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the First United Methodist Church of Bentonville with the Rev. Ben Hines. Burial will be at the Bella Vista Cemetery in Bella Vista, Ark. Cremation arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Service of Bentonville.
