Drowning at Lansing.
Waukon Standard:—About 12 o’clock Friday evening at Lansing, as Charles Thorp, about twenty years old, a clerk of the boat store in Lansing, was going from the wharf boat to a steamer which was taking on supplies, he stepped off the gang plank into the water, went under the wharf boat and was drowned. The fire bell was rung and the people turned out in the rain to make the best search they could. The body was found the next day a short distance below the boat.
