JOHN G. CLARK 1900

After a long continued condition of ill health, John G. Clark died at his home in the NW part of town Wednesday a.m., July 25, 1900, of tubercular peritonitis, aged about 55 years. He was married twice, his first wife being a daughter of Reuben Smith of Franklin Township, by whom he had two children, a son, now dead, and a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Waters. His second wife, who now survives him was Hannah Diantha Steele. To them no children were born. The funeral will be held tomorrow, July 27. Services at the house at 12:30 p.m. and at the Presbyterian Church at 10 o'clock p.m. He was a member of the Modern Brotherhood who are requested to be present.

-note: Hannah Diantha (Steele) Clark, born December 1, 1852 in Pennsylvania daughter of David B. and Elizabeth (Ralston) Steele, is buried in the Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, Iowa. She died January 22, 1914. John is buried with his first wife and son, Grandville Clarence Clark, in the Smith Cemetery. John G. Clark was born 1850 in Illinois or 1845, McHenry County, Illinois; depends on whose genealogy you use. His first wife, Judith E. Smith was born June 19, 1848 or July 22, 1849 in Indiana and died in childbirth March 27, 1871.
