Mrs. CHARLIE BURR (Estella Hammel) COOK 1880-1965
Estella Cook, daughter of John and Caroline Harris Hammel, was born in Postville, Iowa, on December 19, 1880. She passed away at the Waukon Good Samaritan Nursing Home on October 7, 1965, at the age of 84 years, nine months and 18 days. She had been a resident of the nursing home for five year.
On October 25, 1899, Estella Hammel was married to Charlie Burr Cook of Postville.
Mrs. Cook is survived by one son, Lawrence and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Bertha Folsom, Mrs. Gusta Lawson, Mr. Earl Hammel, Mrs. LaRue Webster, Mrs. Frank Lawson, all of Postville; Charley Hammel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Mrs. Pearl McDonald of San Diego, California.
Estella Cook was affiliated with the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville and was a member of the Women's Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hammel; two brothers, Ralph Hammel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Leonard Hammel of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Andrew Stockman, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites, assisted by the Rev. Curtis Webster. Burial was in Minert cemetery.
