Funeral services for A. E. Cornell, former Postville resident who passed away at his California home December 27, will be held at the Schutte Funeral home on Friday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m.

Services Held For A. E. Cornell
Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. for A. E. Cornell, former resident, who passed away at his California home recently.
The services were conducted by Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, and Ray R. Douglass was in charge of the Masonic rites.
Albert Edward Cornell, husband of Carrie B. Cornell, was born February 2, 1863, at Dwight, Illinois. He came to Postville in 1855 and was a popular and successful owner of the Commercial Hotel for 27 years. He was married to Carrie B. Orr, September 18, 1885, and together they have traveled life's journey for 60 years.
They sold the hotel in 1912 and moved to Los Angeles, California, where they have lived since he was employed there at the Alexandria Hotel for five years and the Biltmore Hotel for 20 years in the auditing department, retiring at the age of 80 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister and nephew, he being the last of his family. Mr. Cornell and wife are both members of the West Boulevard Community Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles. He was devoted to Masonry and was a Knight-Templer and Shriner.
Surviving him are his wife, his son Harvey H. Cornell and wife, and two children, Harvey, Jr. and Carol Jean, of Santa Fe, New Mexico
