Crushed to Death.
Waukon, Oct. 29.—Ole Christopherson, aged about 70 years, residing at the west end of Union Prairie township, was killed in a sandpit near this place. He had gone to the pit alone for a load of sand, and was found buried beneath a cave-in. Only his face was exposed and death is thought to have been instantaneous, as a vast quantity of sand-rock filled the place in which he was digging. He was known as “Stuttering Ole” here in town, and was reported as quite wealthy.
