New Albin, Iowa - Albert E. Hale, 82, oldest son of the late Elisha and Eliza Hale passed away suddenly at his home here Sunday.

He was born in Freeport, Ill., and when he was two years old the family moved to Lansing, where he grew to young manhood and with his father engaged in boating on the Mississippi river and also in mechanical work.

In 1878 in company with his brother Homer and a number of other friends, Mr. Hale went to Norton county, Kansas, and settled on government land where he lived for a number of years. He afterward lived in various other cities in the west.

In 1914 he came to New Albin, and in the same year on November 4, he was united in marriage to Etta A. Travis, who survives, together with one brother, Homer of Norton, Kan.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. J.H. Barr, pastor of the M.E. church officiating. The remains were taken to Lansing and laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.
