BIG SOLDIER, HOLT, HOLTS, FLYING CLOUD, BIG BEAR

McGregor, Ia. - Emmaline Holt Big Soldier, 22, Winnebago Indian, who has lived most of her life Indian fashion beside the Mississippi river, at Waukon Junction, died Monday at the Winnebago settlement near Genoa, Wis.

The body will be shipped to Winnebago, Neb. for burial

Her father, Henry Holts, whose Indian name was Flying Cloud, died at their tepee home near Waukon Junction last winter and was taken to Winnebago.

Her mother, Emma Big Bear, well known basket maker, brought her daughter back to this vicinity recently and had been in McGregor and Waukon Junction before going to Genoa several days ago.

Emmaline's husband, Fred Big Soldier, a full blooded Winnebago, is serving with the army in Italy.
