Calvin Dresser, a resident of this township for 37 years past, died at his residence north of town on Saturday last. He had been in declining health for a number of years, and his death is attributed indirectly to paralysis with which he was stricken in 1879. The final summons same suddenly, however, as but two hours previous deceased had arose and dressed as was his daily custom. Mr. Dresser was born June 18, 1813,, at Barnston, in the province of Quebec. On December 11, 1832, he was married to Miss Sally Hawkins of that place, who survives him. In 1838 they removed to Ohio, enduring the hardships of that state as well as in their Iowa home, which was established at this place in 1855. Twelve children were born unto them, eleven of whom are still living - seven daughters and four sons. With the exception of Mrs. Ed. Clark of Louisiana, all were present at the funeral obsequies which were held Tuesday at the M.E. church and conducted by Rev. Lockwood. Mr. Dresser was of an industrious and frugal nature, and as a result a large competence was amassed by him during his lifetime, which will be devided among his heirs. The realty consists of 320 acres adjoining town and a half interest in the brick building occupied by the drug store.
SEPARATE ITEM, In the same paper and date.
