KERMIT ELLINGSON 1925-1956

The death of Kermit Ellingson, 31, occurred suddenly Saturday evening in Decorah, following a heart attack. He had accompanied his wife and friends where to spend a social evening.

Mr. Ellingson was born in Winneshiek county, March 27,1925. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ellingson died when he was a small boy and he was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellingson. He lived in this county all his life except for two years spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was graduated from Waukon high school and Waukon Junior college and was employed as a salesman until a few months ago when he opened a bakery and lunch room in Waukon.

His marriage to Carole Wolfe of New Castle, Penn., took place in California in 1946. She survived with three children, Kenneth, Cindy and Scott, all at home. There is also one brother, Thomas Ellingson, of Decorah.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church. The Rev. W. K. Benbow officiated. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Mr. Ellingson was a member of the board of trustees, choir, and other groups at St. John’s Lutheran church.

Pallbearers were Barthell Bakkum, Leonard Thies, Kenneth Roe, George Schumacher, Walter Daniels and Donald Flage.
