Related article of interest, shared by Cindy (Maust) Smith:

Miss Iva T. Roese, was born in 1908 on a farm near Waterville, Iowa. Her earlier school days were spent at Waterville schools, where she graduated from the eighth grade.

Miss Roese's freshman year was spent in the Waukon high school, but returned to Waterville and completed her high school training there.

It seems as though, Miss Roese must be interested in teaching for she attended college at Cedar Falls where she received her teachers diploma. Miss Roese is now teacher of the first and second grades and enjoys her work very much. She tells me she likes everything in the line of food except tomatoes and fish (too bad, there's an abundance crop of tomatoes this year.)

We're glad to have you with us Miss Roese and hope you will enjoy the many good times that are to be had in our Institution of learning.
