Daniel Joseph Darling, 44, of New Albin died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Mayo Health Systems in La Crosse, Wis.
Daniel Joseph was born Jan. 28, 1971, in La Crosse, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Meyer) Darling.
Danny graduated from Kee High School in Lansing, Iowa, in 1989. He was employed with Northern Engraving in Lansing, until 2002, when health issues caused him to retire. Danny enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved watching Kee High baseball, Iowa Hawkeyes and the Washington Redskins.
Daniel is survived by his dog, Leroy; siblings, Daria Darling of New Albin, Douglas (Karen) Darling of New Albin, Debra Darling of Waukon, Iowa, and Dina (Scott) Spieker of Cresco, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Robert ( Mary) Darling of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Elton Darling of New Albin, Darrell Meyer (Donna) of Stoughton, Wis., Carol Ryan of Guttenberg, Iowa, Leland Zibrowski (Carol) of La Crescent, Minn., and Curtis Marsh of Galesville, Wis.; several friends, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Darling; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Dr. Venkateshwaran (Venk) Iyer, MD, Mayo Health System of La Crosse, and his staff, also everyone on the renal dialysis unit in Onalaska, and the Northeast Iowa transit drivers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with 6:30 p.m. scripture service Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the New Albin Community Center, New Albin. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass Friday at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. today, July 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Albin, with the Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant.
Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Albin, at a later date.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing, are helping the family with arrangements.
