Funeral services for Albert Fiete, Spanish American war veteran, who died last week at Iowa City, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. J. Priestley officiating.

Pall bearers were veterans of the Spanish American War. A Guard of Honor was supplied by the local Legion post. Committal services conducted by the Legion were held at the Waukon cemetery.

Miss Francis Parnell of Boscobel, Wisconsin, a very close friend of the family, sang the solo, "Prayer Perfect," and Sherm Krohn sang "Abide With Me." Mrs. Anna Campbell officiated at the organ. Rev. J. Priestley preached on "Life Present, Life Immortal and Life Eternal."

Albert F. Fiete was born July 16, 1879 at Waukon, Iowa. He spent his boyhood days in Waukon attending school. At the age of 18 he entered the United States army, serving in the Spanish American war in the southern part of the United States and in Cuba.

He was honorably discharged from service May 13, 1899. For a few years he worked at the business of buttermaking at Waukon and Titonka, Iowa.

In 1903 he came to McGregor where he served as rural mail carrier for several years. After this he followed the barber business in the city of Des Moines and Marquette. About five years ago he became janitor of the Public School where he served until his death.

In 1899* he was married to Evora Davis at Waukon. To this union three children were born: Mrs. William Young, Leona Fiete and Carlton Fiete, all of Chicago.

In 1913 he was married to Regina Knoebel. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Ray Brown of Waukon; Ruth Fiete and Albert Fiete of Marquette.

Besides the children he leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Mrs. W.H. Thomas of McGregor, one brother, Jay D. Fiete, of Chariton, Iowa.

Mr. Fiete's genial nature, industry and untiring care for his children has won for him the respect and friendship of the locality in which he lived and served.

Out of town relatives present for the funeral were: Mrs. Ray Brown of Waukon and Mrs. Leona Oehler of Chicago, daughters; Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Fiete and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Fiete of Chariton; and the F.C. Parnell family of Boscobel. Co. I of Waukon was also present.
