Stephen Reid, 80, Waukon stone mason, died Sunday. Surviving are two sons, Sgt. Nicholas Reid of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Reid of Portland, Ore., two daughters, Mrs. Claude Dean of Waukon and Mrs. Clarence Berry of Long Lake, Minn., four sisters, Mrs. Frank Edwards and J.J. Blakley of St. Paul, Mrs. James Buchannen of Mason City and Mrs. John Glaus, Maiden Rock, Wis.

DOD: December 22, 1946
Note: Stephen Reid was married to Mary Drusilla Whaley.

Steve Ried [sic] of Waukon, well known throughout the county as a stone mason, died at the County Home, late Sunday, where he had been cared for the past year.

He was born Oct. 11, 1866 in Allamakee county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Ried. His wife, who was Mary Whaley, died some years ago.

He is survived by two daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Claude Dean, Waukon; Mrs. Clarence Berry, Long Lake, Minn; Sgt. Nicholas Ried of San Antonio, Texas; Richard Ried, of Portland, Oregon, the two latter being unable to be in attendance at the funeral.

He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. John Glaus, Maiden Rick, Wis.; Mrs. James Buchanen, Mason City; Mrs. Frank Edwards and Mrs. J.J. Blakely, both of St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services were held from Martin Bros. funeral parlors to St. Patrick's Church, Waukon, Thursday morning. The Rev. Ernest J. McDonald celebrated the Mass of Requiem and burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery at Lycurgus.
