Death Takes Simon Kloke
Funeral services for Simon Kloke, 81, of Waukon were held Friday afternoon, March 23, at 2 o'clock at Martins Funeral home in Waukon with Rev. David Vaalar of St. John's Lutheran church officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery at Waukon.
Mr. Kloke died Tuesday, March 20, at the Veteran's Memorial hospital in Waukon, where he had been a patient after a one-day illness as a result of a stroke.
He was born in Germany, Dec. 18, 1880, and came to America when 9 years old with his parents, Fred and Charlotte, nee Snitker, Kloke. He had been a farmer all his life in Allamakee county. He received his education in the Allamakee county rural schools.
Mr. Kloke was married to Edith Britain at Waukon, Jan. 15, 1908. They went to live on a farm near Postville where they lived for seven years when they purchased the farm north of Monona now owned by Harvey Gruber. They lived on his farm for 35 years, when in 1950 they moved to Waukon where they bought a small acreage on the northwest side, where they have lived for the last 12 years.
Mr.and Mrs. Kloke were confirmed at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church in Monona, by Dr. H.W. Siefkes, Jan. 29, 1939.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, who died in infancy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Virginia) Bruehahn of Monona; one brother, Fred of Clearwater, Fla.; and three grandchildren; Mrs. Clyde (Carol) Thompson of Froelich, Mrs. James (Janet) Brown of Cedar Rapids, and Allen Bruehahn of Shullsburg, Wis.
Pallbearers were: Lynn Probert, Ray Seneff, Fred Fuller, Andrew Wacker, Arnold Ellingson, and Leonard Amundson.

Waukon- Simon Kloke, 82, rural Waukon, died Tuesday night at a Waukon hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Martin Brothers Funeral Home, Waukon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Edith; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Bruehahn, Monona, Ia.; a brother, Fred, Clear Water, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
