Mrs. LARRY (Bessie Lucille Segrist) EWING 1908-1971
Funeral services for Mrs. Larry Ewing were held in the Community Presbyterian Church Sunday, November 14, 1971, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dick Harberts in charge and the Reverend Curtis Webster participating.
Bessie Lucille, daughter of Fred and Zelma Segrist, was born September 16, 1908, on a farm in Franklin Township, Allamakee County. She spent her early years in this community and had her schooling in the Evergreen school. Bessie was married to Larry Ewing December 7, 1927, in Waukon, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Lavon and Lola.
They lived in the Forest Mills vicinity on a farm until moving to Postville in March of 1947. She was confirmed in the Bethel Evangelical United Brethren Church and was a member there all her life. She had been in ill health for some time and died at the Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Thursday, November 11.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Larry, and two daughters: Mrs. Virgil (Lavon) Martins and Mrs. Eugene (Lola) Mork, both of Postville, one sister, Mrs. George (Bertha) Ewing, of Postville, and two grandsons, Randy and Grant Mork.
Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
