LESLIE GENE "Hank" FLACK
Leslie Flack, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996, at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility at Decorah. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11:00 a.m., at the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, with the Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Priscilla Miene served as the organist.
Casket bears were Dale Ondrashek, Mike Ondrashek, Greg Scheffert, Jason Flack, Stanley Flack, Amos Flack, Tim Flack, David Flack, Jed Brainard, Luke Brainard, Jessey Brainard, Jamie Vargason and Justin Vargason.
Burial was at the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Leslie Gene “Hank” Flack was born May 9, 1923, at Volny in Clayton County, the son of Harold and Mary (Bray) Flack. He attended the country schools near his home.
On June 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Wedo in Clermont. To this union, six children were born.
Hank had been employed by Bolson Feed in Decorah, Hygrade Meat Packing Co. in Postville for 25 years, and also by Iowa Turkey Products.
Survivors include his children, Nancy and Donald Onrashek of Fort Atkinson, Margaret and Ronald Sheffert of Ely, Terry and Joleen Flack of Waukon, Rodney and Kathleen Flack of West Union, Colleen Brainard of Star, Miss., and Skyla and Scott Vargason of Postville; and 22 grandchildren, Dale and Mike Ondrashek and Dawn (Ondrashek) Kraft; Greg Scheffert; Jason, Stanley, Amos, Angela, Tim, Bethany and Vanessa Flack; Michaela, David, Katina and Alicia Flack; Jed, Luke, Jessey and Jennifer Brainard; and Jamie, Tanya and Justin Vargason.
Survivors also include five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Cory, Damian and Jennifer, and three sisters, Betty Lundt of Decorah, and Charlotte Newman and Joyce Reincke, both of Waterloo.
Leslie Flack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty, who died in 1989; a sister, Vivian Jones; and four grandchildren, Donald Ondrashek, and Christina, Danny and Kimberly Flack.
