Waukon, Ia. - George W. Beall, one of the few remaining Civil War veterans in Allamakee county, died early Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.O. Pederson at Rossville following a brief illness. He was 87 years old.
He was born near Morgantown, W. Va., Aug. 24, 1847 and in 1864 moved to Rossville where he settled on a farm. He lived in that community most of his life.
He married Clara Davis March 28, 1872 who died in 1916.
Mr. Beall is survived by seven children: William of West Moreland, Kan.; Frank of Sydney, Neb.; Grant of Waterloo; James of Dubuque; Mrs. Otto Welper and Ray Beall, both of Waukon, and Mrs. Pederson at Rossville.
Funeral services will be held from the home of his daughter in Rossville. Burial will be made in the Rossville cemetery.
