LOUIS (Ludwig) FRITZ 1817-1901

Louis (Ludwig) Fritz was born 22 August 1817 in Laufen, Balingen, Wurttemberg. (Germany). He emigrated to Switzerland sometime prior to April 1844. He married Verena Waegeli in Diessenhofen, TG, Switzerland on 27 January 1847. He started to use the name Louis after his arrival in the USA. He immigrated to the USA on the ship "Cella" with sons, Jacob and Ludwig and arrived in New York on 20 November 1865. His father was Johann Martin Fritz and mother was Christina Stotz, both of Laufen. Louis (Ludwig) died 29 July 1901 aged 84 years, in Makee Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He was a widower at the time of death. He was buried in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery next to Verena, his wife's marked grave. Louis was a blacksmith.
