GLEN I. GREEN
Glen I. Green, son of Chester and Edna Roney Green, was born July 20, 1926 in rural Castalia, Iowa. He died of cancer on Sunday, March 27, 1994 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was 67.
He received his elementary education at country school, and graduated from Postville High School in 1944. He then attended Iowa State University. He served on the U.S.S. Reuben James DE-153 during World War II.
On June 6, 1954 he married Joan Hawkins at St. Francis de Sales Catholic church in Ossian, Iowa. He retired from Allison-Kesley Ag. Center in March, 1991, having worked there for 23 years. Glen's joy was being involved in his children's and grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger; and one daughter in infancy, Ann Marie. Survivors include his wife, Joan; nine children, Barbara Keninger of Ackley, Wayne of Waverly, Michael of Clarkesville, Glenda Schmitz of Waterloo, Margaret Dix of Aplington, Mary Meyer of Aplington, Martha Karsjens of Ackley, Paul of Ames, and Peter of Carroll; 19 grandchildren; and two sisters, Ardis Dibble of Postville and Marily Werger of Garnavillo.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, 1994 at 10:30 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Rev. Peter C. Bodensteiner officiating.
Burial was at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Parkersburg.
