WALTER EDWARD GROTEGUT 1907-1965
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in Salem United Church of Christ for Walter Edward Grotegut, 57, Winneshiek county farmer who died Wednesday, March 10, following an illness of several months. The Rev. Walter Clausing officiated at the service and burial was in Salem cemetery.
Carl Becker, Raymond Snitker, Roland Kiesau, Ernie Bjerke, August Krumme and Robert Stuckman were pallbearers.
Mr. Grotegut was born October 7, 1907 in Winneshiek county and his parents were Henry and Lydia Becker Grotegut. He was educated in the local schools and lived in Winneshiek county all of his life. March 4, 1931 he married Evangeline Stock in Ludlow township and they were parents of three daughters.
Survivors are his wife and daughters: Mrs. Neil (Bonnie) Sanderman, Waukon; Mrs. Carlton (Joanne) Martins, Luana, and Sharon of Rochester, Minn. Two brothers, Reuben of Waukon, and Calvin of Decorah, and a sister, Mrs. Melvin (Stella) Stunes of Waukon, and seven grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. Martin Brothers were in charge of arrangements.
