Waukon, Ia. - Word has been received in Waukon of the death in a naval hospital at Bremerton, Wash., of Fred Stilwell, 61.
He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Jones, a navy nurse at San Diego, Calif., and two children by a former marriage.
The body will be brought to Waukon for burial.

-- -- --Waukon, Ia. - Services for Fred Stilwell, 61, were held Monday at the Martin Brothers funeral home with the Rev. W.H. Mitchell, pastor of the Methodist church, officating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. Stilwell died last Tuesday at the naval hospital at Bremerton, Wash.
He was born May 28, 1887 at Durango, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ard Stilwell. He came to Waukon as a child and made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Stilwell.
He joined the marines and was stationed in the Philipines and China. Before World war I he joined the navy, retiring in 1939.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Jones of San Diego, Calif., and two children, Ardis of Raleigh, N.C. and Fred, in navy service.
