HAINES - At his home in Lansing township on Thursday, March 6, 1890, after an illness of more than two years, John K. Hanes; aged 77 years. The deceased came to Allamakee county from Salem, Mass., many years ago, and was one of the early settlers. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. Mr. J. K. Haines, Deputy County Clerk, is one of his sons.

HAINES - At his residence in Lansing twp., March 5, 1890, of grip and heart complications, J. K. Haines, Sr., aged 76 years, 10 months and 6 days. Mr. Haines was born April 29, 1813, at Loudon, N. H. He came to Lansing in 1855 and engaged in farming. He leaves seven children, among whom is the deputy county clerk, Mr. J. K. Haines, of Dorchester. He was highly respected as a citizen and neighbor.Waukon Standard, 3/13/1890
