HOWARD CARL HANSMEIER

Howard Hansmeier, 80, of Ventura, CA, died on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his home. He had been a resident of Ventura County for 15 years.

Howard Carl Hansmeier was born on December 21, 1921 in Waukon, to Charles and Ethel Hansmeier. He worked in Madison, WI at Ray-O-Vac Corporation, then moved to Waterloo, where he was employed as a supervisor for John Deere Experimental Center before retiring in 1981.

Howard was an active Shriner as well as a member of the Shriner's Vintage Car Club. In 1987, Howard moved to Ventura to spend his retirement with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Peggy Letney; son Gene (Rosemary) Hansmeier; daughter Kim Hansmeier; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Howard's name to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 400 Mobile Avenue, Camarillo, CA 93010, (805) 648-3184. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura. Burial was Saturday, June 1, 2002, 2:00 p.m. at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, Waterloo. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
