Died.
Harriet Henderson, widow of Thomas Henderson, Jr., died at her home in Postville, Iowa, February 10th, 1892. Mrs. Henderson was born in Banoffshire, Scotland, January, 1820. She taught school in her native land from 1840 to 1846. She was married to Thomas Henderson, Jr., May 26th, 1846, and removed to the United States the same year. They lived on a farm in Fayette Co., near Postville. On the breaking out of our Civil war her husband entered the army in 1861 to aid, as he firmly believed, in destroying the greatest curse of our age and country -- slavery. He was killed in the great batle of Shiloh, April 6, 1862. Since that memorable day the subject of our sketch devoted herself to the care of her small family. She was a member of the Baptist church in Postville during the existence of that society, and subsequently attended the M.E. church during the remainder of her days. Rev. E.J. Lockwood, pastor of the M.E. church, conducted the funeral service with an appropriate sermon from the 15th verse of the 17th Psalm.~Postville Review, 2/20/1892
