Dr. O. Deremo, a citizen of Center township, Allamakee Co., since 1854, died on the 13th ult. He was the first school teacher as well as doctor in his town which, by the way, he organized by authority of Judge Topliff in 1856. Ten children were born to him. He was 78 years old.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born April 14, 1825 and died September 20, 1902 and is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
