CLINTON (Jake) LAMMERT 1920-1980
Memorial services for Clinton (Jake) Lammert, 60, were held Friday, Oct. 24, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated with the Rev. Norman Ullestad assisting. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Jake Lammert, son of Edwin J. and Effie (Krum) Lammert was born in Postville June 5, 1920. He died Oct. 21, 1980, at LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis.
He attended Postville Community Schools, graduating in 1937, and was employed in the Postville area. Jan. 8, 1945, he was married to Virginia Herwig in Postville. He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and on a number of congregational committees.
In addition, he was responsible for organizing the church's ushering function for 12 years; he was also a member of the Cemetery Association. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a postal clerk for 20 years and as a church sexton for 10 years while maintaining his status as a real estate broker for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Patti (Mrs. Dave Thayer) of Orange City; two sons, Terry of Omaha, Neb. and Kent of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; and a brother Dennis of Springfield, Ill.
Note: Jake's mother Effie (Krum) Lammert was a sister to Wilhelmine Elisbeth (Krumm) Nordin.
