Funeral services for Willard S. Livingood were held in the Schutte Chapel, Postville, on Monday, May 19, 1969, at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Dick Harberts officiating. Interment was in the Smith Cemetery.
Willard Sidney Livingood was the eldest son of Edwin and Mathilda Pechia Livingood. He was born on August 30, 1885 in Post Township. His entire life was spent in Allamakee County.
He farmed until 1945 when he moved to Postville where he made his home and lived until three years ago. At that time, because of his failing health and the passing of his wife, he went to live with his son and wife in Harpers Ferry. The past year he has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
On March 14, 1906, he was united in marriage to Effie M. Miller at Waukon. They were the parents of six children: Kenneth, Milo, W. Sidney, Irene, Russell, and Byron. Effie passed away on November 6, 1953.
August 25, 1955, he married Minnie Landt Welsch. She passed away three years ago. Willard died at the Good Samaritan Center Saturday, May 17, at the age of 83 years, eight months, and 17 days.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Effie, and second wife, Minnie; two sons: Russell and Byron; four brothers: Charles, Earl, Cecil, Lynn; and three sisters: Maud (Miller), Abbie (Winters) and Nellie (Winter).
He is survived by three sons: Kenneth of Harpers Ferry; Milo, near Postville; W. Sidney of Newburg, Missouri; one daughter, Irene (Mrs. Francis Hoopes) of St. Paul, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters: Stella (Mrs. Gerald Moose) of Waukon, and Caroline (Mrs. Elwood Lawson) of Caledonia, Minnesota; also many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
