The death of William E. Beddow occurred at his home in this city on Thursday morning, after only a few days' illness, from acute pneumonia.

Deceased was born in Clayton county and was 45 years of age. He removed to Waukon about fifteen years ago and was one of the founders of the Citizens' State bank and was occupying the position of cashier of that institution at the time of his death. He was also one of the founders of the First National Bank at Caledonia, Minn. He was an extensive real estate dealer, being actively engaged in the land business through-out the Dakotas, Indiana and Illinois.

He is survived by a widow, two daughters and a son, also one brother, F.A. Beddow of Caledonia, Minn.

His stepmother resided in Clayton county and passed away last Friday upon receipt of the news of Mr. Beddow's death.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. Temple assisted by Rev. Van Nice. Interment was made at Oakland cemetery. The services at the grave were conducted by the Elks lodge, he being a member of the Decorah order. Fifty members of the Dubuque lodge of Elks came by special train to attend the services and twenty from the order at Decorah were present. The abundance and beauty of the floral offerings from friends told of the esteem in which Mr. Beddow was held in this community.
