Mrs. MORRIS (Vila Schnuelle) Herrmann MATHIS

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 18, 1981 for Vila Mathis, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated and burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Vila Mathis was born April 13, 1917 at Postville the daughter of Simon and Elizabeth (Heins) Schnuelle. She died suddenly at her home in rural Waukon Monday, June 15, 1981. She was 64 years, two months and two days old. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in 1930. She received her education at the Highland School in Post Township. She was married to Morris Mathis Nov. 14, 1959. They farmed near Waukon.

Survivors include her husband, three sons: Dean Herrmann, Dale Herrmann, Curtis Mathis, all of Waukon, a daughter, JoAnn Mathis and two grandchildren. Also two brothers, Willie Schnuelle, Postville and Clarence Schnuelle, Waukon; four sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Laura) Ihde, Monona; Mrs. Elmer (Marie) Ihde, Anna Schnuelle and Lydia Schnuelle, all of Ossian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Arthur Herrmann in 1951, two sisters and one brother.
