JOHN MEIER 1895-1984

Funeral services for John Meier were held Friday, Aug. 3, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. James Elvig officiated. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.

John Meier, son of William and Hattie (Saak) Meier, was born March 7, 1895 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County. He received his education in the rural school. In 1921, they moved from the home place to the farm in Ludlow Township where he spent most of his life.

John died Monday, July 30, 1984 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville, at the age of 89 years.

He served in WW I in the U. S. Army 375th Aero Squadron in both England and France. John farmed all of his life and was an avid reader with an interest in many areas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry and Will; four sisters, Hattie, in infancy, Mary, Lottie Schiefelbein and Louise Meier.

Surviving is a nephew, Ralph Borter, Evanston, Illinois and a niece, Hattie Roiz, Hayward, CA; and several cousins.
