Funeral services for Alfred C. Meyer were held Monday, Oct. 12, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Alfred Charles Meyer, son of August and Louisa (Schroeder) Meyer, was born February 10, 1901 in Clayton County. He passed away October 10, 1981 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. He was baptized September 1, 1901 and confirmed September 3, 1916 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended the Postville School.

February 20, 1923 he was married to Ella Palas at the home of her parents near Luana. To this union three children were born. In 1927 until 1965 they operated a hatchery and feed and farm supply business. In 1965 they discontinued the hatchery operation. He was previously employed by two different produce houses, both within a block of where he opened his own business in 1927.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry and Fritz and two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Dahms and Mrs. Fred (Metta) Block.

Surviving besides his wife, Ella, are two sons, Dean of Antioch, CA and Dale of Postville, a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Jane Ann) Panoch of Castalia and five grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
