Death of an Old Waukon Resident.
A. J. Hersey, one of the old and well known residents of Waukon, died Sunday afternoon after a brief illness from a stroke of paralysis. He with his brother located in Waukon in the early 50’s and engaged in merchandising. Lewis Hersey, the brother, later became a banker. Mr. Hersey was twice married, his second wife being Mrs. H. A. Stark, formerly of Decorah. She, with two daughters by the first marriage, Mrs. O. T. Grattan of Elkton, South Dakota, and Mrs. Mark Snider, whose home is in Missouri, survive him. The funeral was held yesterday.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a grave shows he was born November 29, 1819 and he is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
