Died of dropsy of the heart, at Waukon, on Saturday December 11, 1869, at 8:30 a.m., Mrs. Emily Amelia Roup, wife of T. R. Roup, and daughter of Robert and Ruth Isted. Aged 26 years 5 months and 2 days. She was born in the village of Hume, Alleghany County, New York in 1843.

The deceased had been sick for some four months and at times seemed to be in a fair way of recovery; but towards the last it was apparent that it was very doubtful, and during the last few days she sank rapidly till her death, which was peaceful, her mind serene, having full confidence in Christ, her redeemer.

She leaves a large circle of mourning friends and relatives in this and other places. Three little children are now motherless, and may the good Father of all be with the mourning husband and them, to lead them all safely through life, and finally to reunite in the better world.
