Obituary in the Allamakee Journal of December 16, 1925, page 5 column 4 under Lansing News reads:
"Miss Mary Fitzgerald died Saturday at the home of her brother, John T. FItzgerald, aged 84 years, 11 months, and 20 days. Deceased was born at Constableville, NY, and at the age of fourteen suffered the loss of her sight through a quack doctor. She had made her home in the family of her brother since his marriage, twenty-eight years ago, and notwithstanding her handicap was a a most useful and honored member of the family. She possessed a wonderful mind, being always called on for dates, and though totally blind could thread a needle and did most of the family mending and quilting. Funeral from the Catholic church Monday morning at 10 o'clock and burial in Gethsemane cemetery, Requiescat in pace. "
