DWIGHT W. SAWYER 1889-1962
Dwight W. Sawyer, son of Watson A. and Alice Smith Sawyer, was born on December 8, 1889 at Osage, Kansas. He died Sunday, September 16, 1962, at Chatsworth, Georgia while on a trip from Battle Creek, Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia. He suffered a heart attack.
He was united in marriage to Winnie May Miller, January 3, 1920 in Livingstone, Montana. The following year the couple moved to Jackson, Michigan and later to Battle Creek, Michigan where Mr. Sawyer was a maintenance engineer for the Battle Creek Gas Co. for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife who died August 16, 1961.
Surviving are his sisters, Mrs. J. C. Mulfinger (Agnes) of Dubuque, and Eleanor Sawyer Linthueum of Gainsville, Texas. He is also survived by his step-mother, Mrs. W. A. Sawyer of Gainsville, Texas.
Mr. Sawyer was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home, Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin of the Community Presbyterian Church in charge of the services. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
