Edward W. Schlee

Funeral services for Edward Schlee were held Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1988 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Edward W. Schlee, son of William and Fredricka (Schmidt) Schlee, was born July 6, 1892 in Clayton County, Iowa. He died Saturday evening October 22, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

He was baptized October 2, 1892 by the Rev. John Gass and confirmed by Rev. M. O. Puhl on April 8, 1906.

On February 14, 1917 he was married to Mary Meyer by Rev. E. Schmidt. They had 6 children. They lived on a farm south of Postville until 1949 when they moved to town.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died January 27, 1975, 3 brothers, John, Louis and Henry, and a sister, Adalia Casten.

He is survived by 3 sons, James and his wife, Eunice; William and his wife, Marie; Richard and his wife, Norma, all of Postville; 3 daughters, Charlotte (Mrs. Reuben Baethke), Cresco; Betty (Mrs. Milton Anderson), Waukon; and Mary Jane (Mrs. Kenneth Timmerman), Castalia, 25 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were John Baethke, George Anderson, Christopher Schlee, Billy Schlee, Tony Schlee and Kevin Timmerman.
