Rites Held For Wesley Schultz
Wesley Lloyd Elmer Schultz was born January 19, 1938 in Castalia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil C. Schultz. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia on October 9, 1938. He was confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville, on March 18, 1951 by the Rev. F. R. Ludwig.
He was educated in the Postville schools, graduating from the Postville high school on May 22, 1956. He entered the Air Force the same month and received his training at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. Wesley was stationed at Portland, Oregon, where he was a control tower operator, when he entered the Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Washington on November 27, 1957. He was transferred to the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D. C. in February, 1958.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schultz of Luana; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Will Schultz of Ossian; one brother, Eldon Schultz; and three sisters, who died in infancy.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil C. Schultz, Sr., of Postville; four brothers, Emil W. Schultz, Jr., of Castalia, Carlas Schultz, recently of Tonopah, Nevada, Willis Schultz, of Marion, and Floyd Schultz of Sacramento, California; one sister, Eudora Schultz of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his maternal grandfather, Will Schultz of Ossian; and many other relatives and friends.
He passed away at the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D. C. on August 12, 1958 at the age of 20 years, six months, and 24 days.
Rites were held Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Postville with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
