Funeral services for Mrs. Arno Schutte were held Tuesday, March 16, 1993 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend R. Michael Brown officiated. Joann Martins was the organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Jeffery Lange, Jason Lange, Steven Lange, Scott Wirkler, Arnie Dahlen and Marlyn Ohloff.

Ruth Mae Schutte, daughter of Joseph and Mary (McShane) Geno, was born November 30, 1909 on a farm north of Luana, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, March 13, 1993 in the Aase Haugen Home at Decorah, Iowa. She had reached the age of 83 years, 3 months and 13 days.

Ruth was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church on June 19, 1938 by the Rev. F. R. Ludwig. Ruth attended school at the "Little Red School House" in Forest Mills and graduated from the Luana High School in 1928.

On December 9, 1929 she was married to Arnold William Schutte at Charles City, Iowa. To this union four daughters were born.

Ruth had been employed at the Blue Arrow Cafe in Postville. She had also prepared and served meals for the Kiwanis Club and was known for her homemade pies. Ruth and Arno lived in Postville their entire lives. They were a familiar couple in the community and were avid dancers. Ruth also loved to fish and play cards. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the Rebecca Lodge.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arno, who died May 6, 1984; 2 daughters, Marcene and Rosa Lee; a granddaughter, Janet Lange; and a sister, Jessie Lund.

Surviving are two daughters, Darlene and her husband, Bennett Lange of Postville and Lavon and her husband, Allyn Wirkler, of Arlington, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Jeffery Lange and his wife, Marge, Julie and her husband, Arnie Dahlen, Steven Lange and his wife, Vicki, Joni and her husband, Marlyn Ohloff, Scott Wirkler and Barbara Wirkler; 12 great grandchildren, Jason, Brandi, Pasha, Aaron, Aarik, Matt C., Matt L., Nicholas, Megan, Candice, Collin and Craig; and 2 brothers, Leonard Geno of Ferryville, WI and LaVerne Geno of Postville.
