New Albin, Ia. - Funeral services were conducted Monday evening in Minneapolis, for Mrs. Anna Ferris, 85, who died Jan. 13 at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. G.F. Wilde, in Minneapolis, Minn.
The body was brought to New Albin Tuesday afternoon by train. Funeral services were conducted here at the Methodist church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock by the local pastor, the Rev. L.E. Sarchett. Burial was made in the New Albin cemetery. Music was furnished by the male quartet - Edward Bock, C.J. Travis, Charles Kumph and James Sires.
Pallbearers were Louis Tabatt, John Mendenhall, Elmer Lenz, Leslie Reiser, Emil Weymiller and Harold Meyer.
Mrs. Ferris was born in Heath County, Ireland, April 11, 1848. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Shackelton, in 1852 and lived near Eau Claire, Wis. for four years.
Two years later she was married to Leander Ferris on Jan. 3, and lived on a farm near New Albin. Since the death of Mr. Ferris, July 5, 1904, Mrs. Ferris has lived in town.
She was an active member of the Methodist church. She also was president of the New Albin Cemetery association for 23 years.
Since Oct. 15, 1932, she has been living with her granddaughter, Mrs. G.F. Wilde. Surviving her are one brother, William Shackelton, Hays Springs, Neb., and one step daughter, Mrs. Mary O'Donnel, Lansing; several grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews.
