Rufus Seitz
Rufus Leonard Seitz, son of Frank and Emma was born Oct. 12, 1898 in McGregor, Ia. He grew up in the McGregor-Marquette area and attended school in the McGregor Public School system. He was a very warm, quiet, kind man who welcomed both family and friends and was willing to share what he had with those in need. After retiring from farming, he moved to Monona in 1974. He was married on Oct. 14, 1925 to Sybil Cowell. He died Oct. 18, 1978 while in his home in Monona. He was preceded in death by his wife Sybil; his brother, George; and a grandson, Jack.
Rufus is survived by his children: Earl Seitz of Elgin, Anna Mae, (Mrs. Claud Moose) of Waukon, Louis Seitz of Monona; Dale Seitz of Clermont, Sarah Lea (Mrs. Larry Butikofer) of Elgin, and Leonard Seitz of Monona; by two sisters, Helen Seitz of Waterloo, and Irene (Mrs. Harold Brockmeyer)of Manchester; by twenty-seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and by friends and acquaintances he has known through the years.
Funeral services were held Mon., Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Schultz' Funeral Home Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Rodney Seitz, Ronald Seitz, Scott Seitz, Kent Seitz, Lyle Butikofer, and Gregory Moose.
