A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles "Chuck" Albert Fishback was held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville, Iowa. Concelebrants were Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez and Msgr. Cletus Hawes.

Charles Albert Fishback, age 85, of Postville, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Postville. Chuck was born on August 21, 1929 in Lawrence County, Ohio, the son of Katherine (Lewis) Fishback. He graduated from the Decorah High School in 1947. He worked at the Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Decorah, Iowa from 1947 until 1948 when in August of 1948 he started working for Interstate Power Company in Decorah. He served with the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 and was stationed in Germany. He also served with the 775th QM Company (Reserves) in Decorah. Afer his military service Chuck returned to Decorah and resumed working for Interstate Power Company.

Chuck was united in marriage with Jean C. "Ginger" Schmitt on February 4, 1956 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Decorah. Later that year, Chuck and Ginger moved to Postville where Chuck continued to work for the power company, first as a maintenance and service man, to service representative, and finally as the manager of the Postville area. He retired from Interstate Power Company in 1991 after a 43 year career.

Chuck was a member of the St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Postville. He served in many different offices within the church. He was a member of the Postville Fire Department, serving as the Fire Chief for quite a few years, Postville Kiwanis Club, Postville Commercial Club, and the Postville American Legion. He also served on the Big Four Fair Board, Allamakee County Conservation Board, and was an active member of Northeast Iowans for Clean Water. Chuck was a sportsman and loved being outdoors. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and making wax candles. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Charles Albert Fishback is survived by his wife Ginger of Postville; his son James (Brenda) Fishback of Postville; his daughter Debra Masek of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; his grandchildren Alanda Fishback of Brookings, South Dakota; Gabi Masek of Seattle, Washington, and Josh Masek of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and his step-grandsons Randal Schultz of Des Moines, Iowa and Shawn and Derek Schultz of Postville.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother Katherine; two brothers Clifford and Donald Fishback; and a sister Leatta Pederson.
