Arthur Lloyd Swenson, age 80, of Chatfield, Minnesota passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he had resided for five and a half years. He died of complications of Lewey Body Dementia and other medical issues. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Chatfield, Minnesota with the Rev. Timothy J. Gerarden officiating. Burial was in the Chatfield Cemetery with military honors performed by the Chatfield VFW Post #6913.

Arthur was born on May 16, 1932 in rural Luana, Iowa to Lloyd Seward and Cora Ann (Leppert) Swenson. Arthur attended school in rural Allamakee County and high school in Elkader, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict for two years, earning the rank of Corporal and received other military honors. After his military services he was a farmer and worked at the Waukon, Iowa Chick Hatchery. On February 19, 1955, he married Neva Reinke at the United Church of Christ in New Albin, Iowa.

In 1956 he was transferred to the Chatfield Chick Hatchery where he was the manager until 1971. He also raised pullets and crop farmed, raising corn and soybeans. He was a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Chatfield and also served as an elder. Arthur was on the Chatfield Fire Department for 21 years. He enjoyed being with his family, friends, farming, and fishing.

Arthur is survived by his wife Neva; his son Donald Swenson of Chatfield; one daughter Nancy (Mark) Berry of Preston, Minnesota; two grandchildren Mitchel (Brayonna) Berry of Chatfield and Mara Berry of Preston; one great-grandchild Paisley Jo Berry of Chatfield; one sister Ruth Ann Schlitter of Oelwein, Iowa, and many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Lulu Patterson, Marie Timmerman, and
an infant sister, Jeneil Swenson; one brother Hubert Swenson; and two brothers-in-law Milo Timmerman and Robert Schlitter.
