Mrs. Frank Steele, 69, Died At Marengo
Funeral services were held Saturday morning in St. Patrick's church in Marengo for Mrs. Frank Steele, 69, who passed away in that city Thursday morning after a lingering illness. Relatives from Postville who attended the services were J. W. Steele, Mr. and Mrs. Henry V. Steele, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Steele and daughter, Marilyn, Mr. and Mrs. Ed NcNeil, Mr. and Mrs. Neeling Thoma, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Abernethy and Mrs. George J. Meier.
Mrs. Steele's maiden name was Caroline Nick. She was born January 16, 1881, as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nick, in Grand Meadow township, southeast of Postville.She was married to Frank Steele in St. Bridget's church in Postville February 7, 1899.
In 1900 the couple moved to Monona where they lived until 1919, when they moved to Marengo which city has since been the family home.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, four sons, Ambrose and Edward of Oelwein, Harry of Belle Plaine, and Leo of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Frances Redmond of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Helen Regina Vogel of Cleveland, as well as several brothers and sisters.
