Lansing, Ia., Dec. 18 - Mrs. Lena Gelo, pioneer resident of this township, passed away at the home of her son, Fred Gelo, Tuesday evening at 9:30 o'clock, due to old age. She was 80 years old.

Mrs. Gelo was born in Germany and lived there till she was married, after which she came to America and settled at Dorchester. From there she moved to Waukon, where she resided until three years ago when she moved here to a large farm.

Her husband died 19 years ago. She is survived by five sons, Charles of Mason City, Fred and Herman of this township, August of Wisconsin, Mrs. Phillippi of St. Paul and Mrs. Anna Moelleman of this city.

The funeral took place at Lycurgus church Friday morning, Father McNamara officiating. Interment was made at Lycurgus cemetery.
