Mrs. Frederick Wilhelm Meyer, aged 76 years, four months and eight days, passed away at her home in Postville, on Thursday, January 2, 1936, at nine o'clock p.m., her demise bringing to a close a protracted period of ailing health.

The following data concerning her life was given to her pastor, Dr. R. B. Garten, by herself on July 10, 1935:

Her maiden name was Charlotte Schroeder, and she was born August 25, 1860, in Levern, Westphalia, Germany. On September 3, 1860, she was baptized in the Lutheran church of Levern and at the age of 14 years she was confirmed in the same church.

In the year 1883 she emigrated to America, arriving at Postville on April 12, 1883, where friends awaited her.

On June 22, 1883, she was married to Frederick Wilhelm Meyer, and this union was blessed with twelve children, three of whom died in infancy. Those surviving her are six sons, Fritz, William, Henry, Christian, Louis and Eddie, all of this locality; and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Schlee, and Mrs. Ella Hoth, both of Postville; and Mrs. Helen Koevenig of Decorah.

Her husband passed away on March 12, 1935.

Besides the nine children above mentioned she leaves to mourn her passing 22 grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; also two brothers, William Schroeder of Postville, and Christian of Marshfield, Wisconsin; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Harnack of Castalia, and Mrs. Minnie Brainard of Luana; two half-brothers, Louis Schroeder of Williamsburg, and Henry W. Schroeder of Postville, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a loving, faithful mother, who brought her children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and in turn she was beloved by them and they call her memory blessed.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and of the Ladies' Aid Society,

Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church at one o'clock on Monday afternoon, January 6, 1936, Dr. R. B. Garten officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in Postville cemetery.
