Decorah, Ia. - Herman T. Schwartzhoff, 71, died on Thanksgiving day at the Germann-Symonds farm in Highland township.
Funeral services will be held Monday at St. Benedict's Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. and burial will be in the church cemetery*.
Born Oct. 5, 1879, at Dorchester, Schwartzhoff was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Schwartzhoff. On April 21, 1904*, he married Mary Danaher who died in 1949.
His surviving children are Harold Schwartzhoff and Mrs. John Helming, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Harold Mooney, Harpers Ferry; Al Schwartzhoff, Chicago; John, on the farm; Gregory, Milwaukee; Mrs. Chester Baxter Webster City; Cletus and Mark Schwartzhoff Evanston Ill.; also surviving are two brothers and a sister Christian Schwartzhoff and Mrs. Clem Schulte, Dorchester, and Theodore, Caledonia, Minn.
With his son John, Schwartzhoff had been manager of the Garman-Symonds Holstein dairy farm for the past 10 years.

*Notes: Buried in the Dorchester Catholic cemetery, Dorchester with his wife. Her obit gives their marriage year as 1903.
