Funeral services for Lawrence G. Thoma were held Tuesday, December 18, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Reverend David R. Nelson officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Lawrence George Thoma, son of George and Louise (Meyer) Thoma, was born near Postville, Iowa. He passed away December 16, 1979 at his home near Luana, Iowa, at the age of 81 years. He was baptized October 9, 1898 and confirmed March 16, 1918 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. His education was in a rural school east of Postville.
On January 8, 1925 he was united in marriage to Hertha Ruckdaschel at Dubuque. The couple farmed all their lives on the farm where they are now living. To this union three children were born.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred and Louis, and two sisters, Adala and Bertha Thoma. He is survived by his wife, Hertha, a son, Robert of Luana; two daughters: Mrs. Menar (Judyth) Hahn of Anamosa, Iowa; and Mrs. L. Doyle (Margery) Stansberry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren; and two sisters: Mrs. Eltha Klingbeil of Emporia, Kansas and Mrs. Lena Plaht, of Postville.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
